Summary
The Consortium of State School Boards Associations (COSSBA) is seeking a creative and experienced Design and Multimedia Specialist. This role will support COSSBA's mission and visibility by creating high-quality assets for both print and digital platforms. Responsibilities include designing graphics, producing video and multimedia content, and ensuring the consistency and clarity of COSSBA's branding across all communications.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented designer with strong technical skills who excels at translating ideas into engaging visual stories. This full-time, at-will, fully remote position plays a key role in shaping the organization’s visual identity, with an emphasis on event branding, promotional materials, digital content, and social media engagement.

Content Creation
Write and edit clear, engaging copy to accompany designed materials (website content, social media posts, email campaigns, event promotions, etc.).
Adapt content for different platforms to maximize engagement.
Repurpose existing content (presentations, reports, articles) into visually appealing formats to extend reach and impact.
Creative Design & Branding
Design print and digital materials, including reports, publications, event collateral, presentations, infographics, and promotional graphics.
Ensure consistent application of the association’s brand identity across all creative projects.
Work collaboratively with staff to transform concepts and messaging into compelling visuals.
Multimedia Production
Produce and edit videos for events, training, member communications, and social media campaigns.
Develop motion graphics, animations, and other multimedia assets to support programs and initiatives.
Capture and edit photography for events, publications, and digital use.
Digital Communications Support
Design graphics and visual assets optimized for social media, web, and email platforms.
Partner with communications staff to develop creative campaigns that strengthen member engagement.
Support the national conference and other member events with multimedia needs, including slides, video packages, and live-stream graphics.
Project and Workflow Management
Manage multiple design and production projects from concept through delivery.
Coordinate with outside vendors, freelancers, or contractors as needed.
Stay current on design trends, digital tools, and best practices to enhance creative output.
Qualifications, Attributes, and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and/or comparable design/video tools.
Strong skills in video editing, motion graphics, and visual storytelling.
Experience designing for both print and digital platforms.
Experience with social media advertising and analytics
Experience with website content maintenance
Experience in education, nonprofit, or advocacy sectors a plus
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range starts at $65,000; hiring range varies with relevant experience. This position is eligible to participate in the COSSBA’s benefits package, which includes health, dental, and vision insurance, and access to a retirement savings plan with an employer contribution. Additional benefits include paid time off, 18 holidays, and opportunities for professional development.
